Mini-Economy General Information

1. Every week students will receive a paycheck that can be cashed into our special classroom currency called MonsterBucks. Students’ income is based on coming to class, completing classwork and homework, and following classroom/school standards. Classroom jobs can also provide additional income for students. Base income is $50.00 per week.

2. Students will be responsible for the following payments every week:
Rent- $10.00
Taxes- $4.00
Utilities & Supplies- $8.00
Health Insurance (optional)- $30.00 per quarter
(Insurance will cover a student’s income if he/she becomes ill and misses school. Absence
without the benefit of insurance will result in loss of pay for that school day [$10.00 per day])

3. Possible fines: (These are just some common examples)
Incomplete or lost homework/ in class assignments
Condemned desk
Not following classroom/school standards
Speeding in the hallways
Excessive talking/off-task behavior
Not being prepared for class

4. Students have the option of keeping their money in a checking account at the classroom bank, or in their desks. If students choose to keep their money in their desks, the teacher/school will not be responsible for losses and/or theft.

5. The students will have purchasing power. Some examples are:
Rent school supplies
Buy back a “no name” paper
Redeem a “lost and found” item left in the room
Purchases from the MonsterBuck Store
Purchases at class Auctions
